Brown & Company PLC reported FY25 consolidated revenue of Rs. 107.82 billion and PBT of Rs. 25.88 billion, with total assets of Rs. 752.69 billion. The Group completed major East Africa Lipton plantation acquisitions, took controlling stakes in Sierra Cables and Tea Smallholder Factories, and saw strong results across its plantations and hospitality units.
LOLC Group posted a PAT of Rs.41 billion for FY2024/25 (up 89%) and lifted total assets to Rs.2.03 trillion. LOLC Finance PLC recorded a pre-tax profit of Rs.30.8 billion with NPLs falling to 4.97%, while the group expanded plantation holdings and boosted hospitality and manufacturing contributions.
Colombo market closed the week higher as the ASPI rose 39 points to 16,855, led by gains in HAYL, CALH, COMB, NDB and RIL; total turnover was Rs. 5.2 billion and foreign investors recorded a net outflow of Rs. 441.6 million.

Browns Investments (BIL.N0000) acquired a 26.16% stake in Sierra Cables (SIRA.N0000) for Rs.1.7 billion (140.6m shares at Rs.12.30), taking the Browns group’s combined holding to 56.59%. Sierra Cables closed at Rs.16 (up Rs.0.50) while Browns Investments closed at Rs.7.40 (down Rs.0.10).
ASPI rose 1.67% (256 pts) as turnover reached Rs.3.67bn, led by heavy Sierra Cables volume and buying in banking and diversified-financial stocks. Banking stocks and capital-goods names (notably Sierra Cables, John Keells, CDB, HNB) were key contributors.
Sri Lanka's ASPI rose 1.67% to 15,662.85, led by a banking-sector bounce that also lifted the S&P SL20 up 2.14% to 4,703.54. Turnover jumped to 3.67 billion rupees; top contributors included Commercial Bank, HNB, John Keells, Sampath Bank and DFCC, while Sierra Cables had the largest turnover.

Fitch affirmed Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC’s national long-term rating at 'AA-(lka)' with a Stable outlook. Fitch cited expected revenue growth of 18% in FY25, improved margins and lower borrowing costs, while noting about LKR70bn of group debt including LKR40bn at Singer Finance.
The ASPI rose 1.87% (about 296 pts) to 16,167 as the Colombo market staged a strong rebound and turnover doubled to Rs.5.18bn.
