Foreign investors sold a net Rs 9,169 million (US$27.8m) of Sri Lanka rupee bonds in the week to Sept 25, the second straight week of net selling and taking the two-week net outflow to Rs 16.5 billion; foreign holdings fell to Rs 196.9 billion.
The Colombo bourse fell to a six-month low as the ASPI closed down 0.44% at 20,943.79 and turnover hit a year low of Rs. 596 million; foreign investors were net buyers of Rs. 7.9 million. Top negative contributors included CARS, DIAL, COMB, CINS and SEMB.
Colombo Stock Exchange closed lower as the ASPI fell 0.14% to 21,037.35 on subdued trading with turnover 814.88 million rupees, led by the banking and diversified financials sectors. Separately WindForce said six of its project companies won bids to develop 28 MW and 144 MWh of BESS requiring ~944 million rupees equity.
Colombo's ASPI fell 0.35% (76.23 pts) to 21,466 as Middle East tensions and rising global oil prices weighed on sentiment; the S&P SL20 slid 0.34% to 6,033.87. Market turnover was about Rs. 972m on 43m+ shares, with foreign investors net sellers of Rs. 71.3m; capital goods led turnover while diversified financials and banking were also active.
The Colombo market opened the month lower as the ASPI fell 0.1% to 21,318.31, with turnover above Rs.2.3bn and foreign net outflows of Rs.612.5m. Selling late in the session hit JKH, BREW, DFCC, DIAL and MELS, while CCS and Asia Siyaka rose.
CSE corporate earnings rose 10% YoY to Rs.168.3bn in 2Q (1QFY27), lifting 1H earnings 8% YoY to Rs.354.9bn, led by banks which contributed 37% of quarterly profits. Food & Beverage and Diversified Financials were the next-largest contributors; top 10 counters made about 56% of profits.
