Alumex PLC has deployed four AI and IoT-enabled innovations — including a new AI/IoT extrusion line, Golden Batch extrusion digitisation, a scrap optimisation tool, an AI knowledge hub and IoT energy monitoring — to boost export competitiveness, efficiency and sustainability.

Alumex PLC is promoting a more affordable, durable and sustainable aluminium product range and says it has been awarded the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard Certification. The company positions its products as low-maintenance, long‑term building solutions for local and global markets.
The Colombo market closed with the ASPI at 20,992, up 16 points, on turnover of Rs.5.6 billion; weekly ASPI and S&P SL20 fell 0.03% and 1.19% respectively. Property, capital-goods and consumer services stocks led turnover while select hotels and developers saw mixed flows and sizable corporate stake transactions were reported.
Alumex PLC disclosed that shareholder Akbar Brothers sold 80,169,400 shares (13.39% of issued) on 2 September in multiple tranches, raising Rs. 1.4 billion with trade prices between Rs. 18 and Rs. 20.10.
Colombo Bourse fell as investors took profits, with the ASPI down 72 pts to 20,991 and turnover of Rs. 7.5bn (foreign net inflow Rs. 97m). Declines were led by CTC, SAMP, NDB and COMB while Alumex, Sierra Cables and Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings posted gains.
Colombo market rebounded as the ASPI rose 38 points (+0.2%) and S&P SL20 gained 6 points (+0.1%), with turnover up to Rs.5.1 billion led by Teejay Lanka, Sierra Cables and Sampath Bank.
