Top negatives included Melstacorp, Sampath Bank, Royal Ceramics and Ceylon Tobacco; Ramboda Falls announced a Rs0.50 interim dividend (XD Sept 21).
CSE corporate earnings rose 10% YoY to Rs.168.3bn in 2Q (1QFY27), lifting 1H earnings 8% YoY to Rs.354.9bn, led by banks which contributed 37% of quarterly profits. Food & Beverage and Diversified Financials were the next-largest contributors; top 10 counters made about 56% of profits.
Deals in C T Holdings and Cargills pushed Colombo Stock Exchange turnover to over Rs.16.8 billion, a more-than-one-year high, while the ASPI fell 0.34% to 21,344.77. C T Holdings contributed Rs.11.58bn (10% stake traded) and rose to Rs.550.50; Cargills contributed Rs.4.2bn and closed at Rs.680.75.
Colombo Stock Exchange was trending down one hour into trading, with the ASPI off 13.27 points at 21,403.34 and market turnover at 162 million rupees. Top negative contributors were CTC (down 10 rupees to 1,819.75), DFCC Bank (down 1 rupee to 127) and Commercial Bank (down 50 cents to 203.25).
Sri Lanka's ASPI fell 0.29% to 21,416.57 while the S&P SL20 dropped 0.34% to 6,020.38, with market turnover at LKR 1.54 billion. Top positive contributors included Hayleys, Hemas, CTC and Central Finance, while Dialog, LOLC and DFCC were main negatives; Maharaja Foods saw director purchases and closed up 0.61%.

Brokers cited rising oil prices, Trump's Iran comments and profit-taking; CTC and CDB rose, SAMP, DIAL, COMB and BUKI fell, and Ceylon Hotels disclosed a Rs145m corporate guarantee for its subsidiary exceeding 20% of its net worth.
The Colombo bourse closed the week higher with the ASPI up 1.18% (253.08 pts) and the S&P SL20 up 1.29% (77.56 pts). Market turnover was Rs.2.24bn on ~76m shares, foreign investors were net sellers of Rs.696m, with MELS, SAMP, DIAL, NTB and CTC among top positive contributors.
