Colombo Dockyard (DOCK.N0000) signed a contract with Global Marine Systems (UK) to build a 100m cable laying and repair vessel, due for delivery in September 2029. The ultra-modern diesel-electric vessel (14.5 kn) accommodates 76, has three cable tanks and meets Bureau Veritas CLEANSHIP standards.
Colombo Stock Exchange closed higher, the ASPI rose 0.20% (41.92 pts) to 21,229.14 and turnover was Rs 2.02bn with retail leading at Rs 1.04bn. Colombo Dockyard (DOCK) posted a profit of Rs86.28mn for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, reversing a Rs808.36mn loss a year earlier (EPS Rs0.22 vs loss of Rs3.51). Group revenue fell 6.8% to Rs5.84bn, with ship repairing at Rs3.95bn, gross profit up 250.7% and finance costs down 63.8%.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon's Basel III Tier-2 debenture issue was oversubscribed with applications for over 200 million debentures worth Rs 20 billion against an initial Rs 10 billion offer. CSE indices traded lower (ASPI down 0.11% at 21,424.48) with banks leading turnover at Rs 54.4 million.
